From Light to Dark :)
0 Comments Published by Jen June 19th, 2006 in Web Design, Caffeinated Dreams, WordPressThe previous theme I was using, called snapshot, was beginning to bore me. All my layouts have also been very brightly colored, or even just whites and grays. So from one extreme to the other I went(!) and found this one. A modified k2 called Sca4red.2. Now I’m happy with the layout again. :)
Also updated to the latest version of Wordpress and k2. It was bugging the hell out of me–none of my admin pages were loading entirely. Until I disabled Counterize, THE most used plugin on this site, and it fixed itself… after I reinstalled/cleared the database/and so on. Ah well. Probably needed to be done anyway.
Akismet is my saviour. Caffeinated Dreams is just a blog and portal to my crap, only friends really bother reading or I use it to host projects. So I never worried about getting targeted for comment spam. Then out of who knows where I begin getting it.
For awhile it seemed managable, until I broke 20 spam messages a day, so earlier today I found Akismet and installed it. It does all the work for me, I checked it and within the past few hours it caught 10 spammy comments. Wonderful.
Though it still angers me. Just because of this:
There is a way around the WYSISYG text editor in the Dashboard. The option is located at the very bottom of the page under Users. What the fuck? It makes no sense to be located there (I first went to Options > Writing and unchecked the box it had there…) Oh well, unchecked this other tick box and it’s back to a normal text editor.
Yay.
I’m about to rain on everyones happy web 2.0 parade, but bluntly put: The wordpress 2.0 dashboard, more specifically (if not exclusively) the write post/write page forms, suck.
