Why Haven’t I Used Adobe Illustrator Before?
4 Comments Published by Jen June 20th, 2006 in Anime, Artsy, vectorSeriously. I’ve had Adobe Illustrator CS2 on the Windows computer for about 6 months. During those 6 months I never touched this computer, until when I began playing Eve. I used Inkscape on my computer because that’s all there is besides Sodipodi (which bugged me, I didn’t like the layout) for FreeBSD. Not saying Inkscape is bad though, I still love it.
I always wanted proper Guassian Blur or other filter effects for Inkscape and knew Illustrator had these–it was just too much effort to move my keyboard/mouse/monitor to the Windows computer just for Illustrator. So when I began playing Eve I decided to mess around in Illustrator.
It’s awesome! :o I made this Honey trace first, but didn’t figure out how to edit nodes so there are some weird gaps/overlappings. Now I’m working on this Honey & Haruhi trace to test out some other filters. None of which have been used yet because I’m still outlining. Lots of Ouran because it’s currently the one I’m watching… and has the best scenes ever for vectoring.

Ergo Proxy: Sci-fi/Cyberpunk Anime, Finally (vector included!).
0 Comments Published by Jen February 16th, 2006 in Anime, Artsy, Sci Fi, vectorIt has been a long time since a sci-fi/cyberpunk anime worth really looking into came out, last being Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Ergo Proxy seems to follow the “style over substance” option, which I totally don’t mind and almost always prefer anyway. It’s pre-licensed so fansubs aren’t as easy to come by, but some groups are still doing them. It isn’t hard to search for them on Mininova.
So two days ago I began another vector to learn me some more Inkscape. I learned it lacked Guassian Blur effects, something that really ruined my day. I had to make cheap blur looking effects using the gradient tool and am still unhappy with it. No background yet, more of a work in progress because of such.

Fullsize PNG, uncropped
Yeah, her eyeshadow is the gradients. :/
