It hasn’t hit me yet that I live here now, don’t know if it ever will. Stuff like that never really sinks in because I love change and welcome it with open arms.
Sunday went by rather fast, probably because I lost a day. The flight from Phoenix to Chicago was extremely smooth, literally no turbulance until descending into Chicago. Wouldn’t it figure I arrive in Terminal 1 and my flight to Denmark departs from Terminal 5 (International Terminal)? Got on the tram and got my passport registered at the gate. I didn’t grab anything to eat like I was planning on because I had to deal with getting my passport stamped before anything else. Then boarding began so meh.
Doesn’t matter though, Scandinavian Airlines is without a doubt the nicest airlines I have ever flown on–and I’ve flown on a lot of airlines. Airline food actually tasted good, but that’s probably becauase I was dying of starvation. Full course dinner. =) Sadly I didn’t have a window seat on the flight from Chicago to Copenhagen, but it didn’t really matter because the plane has cameras that allow you to see what’s in front of the plane and directly below it. Each seat had a touch screen monitor (and a remote in your arm rest). You had the choices of Music, Movies, Games, or just watching satellite moving maps with a plane icon moving in live time. Also random flight info and SAS Airline facts. Tons of movies, pretty good music (the dance station was amazing), and the games kept me entertained at the end of the flight. Games consisited of Blackjack, Poker, Battleship, Invasion, Trivia, and other card/arcade/board games. For movies you could decide on what you wanted to watch. They had Million Dollar Baby, The Ring 2, Spider-Man 2, Finding Nemo, two Danish movies that I can’t spell, etc…
Very comfy seats as well.
Although flying over Norway was extremely rough. Nonstop turbulance and insane bumpyness, hell I spilled my coffee then!
I’ve only been in Copenhagen for just over a day now, but I like it. It’s very mild, high humidity (which I don’t like), always windy or at least breezy, and is much cleaner than Phoenix.
I said I would take pictures but I’ve been too caught up with stuff. Yesterday Lance and I tried finding his new apartment and ended up walking for about 2 hours looking. It sucked because I hadn’t slept for over 24 hours at this point, but you really get to see the city by walking. You make landmarks, and become familiar much faster unlike with bus/train. I’m fairly close to Tivoli as well, it’s pretty but a huge wall surrounds it so I only saw outside artwork/architecture. There are two (or three?) whore houses by the current apartment. Across the street, which is really small, is an elementary school. And I thought a sex store across from an all girls catholic school was bad back in Phoenix. (19th ave and Peoria for those who wish to find it in Arizona!)
One thing I will ABSOLUTELY have to take a photo of is all the Anti-Bush posters (They have a photo of him, grungy, crossed out and it says “STOP BUSH” and the dates etc). Shit loads. Tons. Everywhere. Apparently he is coming here July 6th and there is a protest being planned. These posters are plastered on every trash can, pole, phone booths, buildings, everywhere. You can’t get away from it. It’s awesome, I laughed my ass off when we were leaving the airport and I saw them. So I now think Bush isn’t going to be welcomed here. Clinton made buddies with Denmark; hope Bush doesn’t ruin that. It’s a pretty liberal country here.
Millions are so showing up at that protest. I knew Europe hated Bush, but this is great. It makes me feel all happy inside.
Got a lot more I can write about, but it’ll probably bore people if I’m not already. Later today when Lance gets off work we’re heading to Ikea (w00t) and getting furniture, then he’s going to take me to a Cafe. Apparently those are very popular here, since I see a lot.
Oh, I’ll TRY and take photos. Family wants them so they will be posted here as well.
You feel happy inside because people hate someone? Wow, that’s fucked up.
Nono, I should have been more clear. More like, happy because people here hate him as well. Lets me know I’m not the only one who dislikes him. :P
I envy your worldliness. It sounds like you’re having a blast.
